Skin Cancer Checks
Noticed changes in your skin, like a new growth or a sore that won’t heal? Any change in the appearance of your skin lasting more than a few weeks could be a warning sign of skin cancer.
Don’t hesitate, have it checked out. Caught early, even the most dangerous type of skin cancer – melanoma – can be cured with relatively minor surgery.
These are the three major types of skin cancer:
- Basal cell carcinoma
- Squamous cell carcinoma
Of the three, melanoma, which starts in the skin’s pigment cells, is the most serious as it can spread early to other parts of the body.
You are more at risk of melanoma if you:
- Are fair skin, light haired, with light coloured eyes
- Have regularly had intense sun exposure
- Have a family history of melanoma,
- Have numerous moles some of which may be odd or irregular looking.
If you’re in the high risk category, or you’ve noticed changes in your skin, book in for a professional examination. We’ll ensure a thorough indepth clinical check of your skin. Getting onto it quickly is your best defence.
