By your mid-30s, worry lines, frown lines or crow’s feet – those fine lines that make you look tired or older – will have likely made an appearance. Just because they’ve arrived doesn’t mean they have to stay! A quick and effective answer to restore your youthful looks is Botulinum toxin.
There’s no need to be put off by its name. By far the most popular cosmetic procedure, all Botulinum toxin does is relax the muscles that contract and cause wrinkles. It does this by blocking the nerve impulse to muscles so that the muscle temporarily stops working. No contractions, no creases, no wrinkles.
Botulinum toxin is administered through injection. To be effective the right dosage needs to be injected into the right muscle. Our highly experienced and skilled medical professionals know exactly what’s required.
For the deepest lines, a follow-up treatment with a dermal filler may be needed to get the results you’re looking for. This would be a separate procedure two weeks after the Botulinum toxin injections.
A word about side effects
You may have heard the stories, but the fact is, side effects are rare. They can occur, if for some reason the toxin moves into a muscle other than the target muscle. For example, if the toxin gets in to the muscle that opens the eye or the ocular muscles, the eyelid could droop, or there may be double vision. However, this is a temporary treatment lasting only four to six weeks so if side effects resulting from a small leaked dose occurs, these usually reverse in three to four weeks.
We can discuss the possible side effects with you fully during your consultation.
Who is this treatment for?
This is a minimally invasive treatment suitable for most people. However you cannot have Botulinum toxin injections if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
